Scripture in the Morning #10
Who are we? We have shared much towards answering this – but much still remains.
Here recently, we addressed that we are members of the Kingdom of God (also referred to Biblically as the Kingdom of Heaven, the Kingdom of Christ, the Kingdom of God in Christ, or just the Kingdom).
What does it mean that we are part of God’s Kingdom? Or, perhaps, what comes to us as members of the Kingdom?
1 Cor 2:12-14 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. 13 And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.
As a member of the Kingdom we have God the Holy Spirit residing within us. The Holy Spirit then illumines truth to our hearts. Without being a member of the Kingdom – that is, without being Born Again, saved, and without possessing the Holy Spirit – we could not know Spiritual truth. Consider…
1 Cor 2:15 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.
This means that the natural man – a person still in the darkness – like we used to be before God took us from darkness into light – the natural man cannot know spiritual truth. Without the Holy Spirit in you, you cannot know Spiritual truth. That is why we were so blind before God chose to save us. But now…
Now we are in the light. We are in the Kingdom. We have God the Holy Spirit in us and so we know truth. This is amazing grace!
So… who am I? Who are you? Sinners now saved, redeemed, once in the dark and now in the light – once without truth regarding Spiritual reality and now possessing truth revealed to us by God the Holy Spirit. We are members of God’s Kingdom now and forever. We are His – we belong to the King. Praise God.
