Scripture in the Morning #130
How about some great prayer starters from God’s Word this morning? Let’s start…
Psalm 51:1-3 … Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me.
If prayer in general is a challenge for us, then prayer particularly centering on our own sin and shortcomings is even harder still.
Perhaps this morning we can pray that the Lord gives us an honest time of dedicated self reflection to evaluate our own sin in thought, in attitude and in action. That is where it starts, with the Lord revealing to us where we are most struggling.
Then, may the Lord move us to recognize our sin as sin. Then, we pray that the Lord might move us to pray like He moved the Psalmist to pray…
We all need God’s mercy.
We all need the Lord, by grace, to blot out our transgressions. That is, we need Him to protect us and our loved ones from the real-time implications of our sin. It is as if to say, “Lord, please do not allow me or my loved ones to suffer from my sin – blot it out Lord – and teach me gently what I need to learn."
So… this morning, may the Lord bless all our prayer time as we depend on His grace to teach us how to confess our own sins before Him.
Have a most blessed prayer time and a wonderful day.
