Scripture in the Morning #137

Good Morning:

Seeing Ourselves for Who We Are… We are a People Greatly Forgiven.

Remember how the Apostle Peter denied Christ three times? Upon thinking that through, I would guess Peter felt terribly guilty and maybe even embarrassed for what He did. Now… how did God respond to this?

Peter was forgiven. He was humbled, yes. And the Lord used that to bless Peter. Then the Lord used Peter mightily and God blessed Peter over and over again. God is like that. He is a God of grace – blessing His people and giving them new beginnings – over and over again.

Luke 7:47 Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.”

Peter loved much because he knew how deeply he was himself loved and forgiven. In view of his personal struggles and failings, he appreciated all the more the grace of God in Christ that was upon him. Peter was given such grace and he realized this and was blessed by this as he measured his shortcomings against the Grace he received.

How about you? For me, my failings are many. Like Peter, I have had a vast array of things I have done in my past and even now that I should not have done. So too, I have not done things that I should have done. I have failed, currently fail, and certainly will fail in the future to be what I am called to be.

What about you… can you relate?

This day if you feel guilty over something in your past or even something in the present – I urge you to remember your Lord’s promises…

1 Peter 5:10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

New beginnings every day.

You are forgiven.

God is guiding and growing you. Let go of that guilt and remorse and focus on the day at hand – a day where He will restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you – and equip you all the more to be His vessel of blessing in this world to those around you even as He moves you closer to Him – sin and all. Our God is amazing!

Enjoy praising Him this day!
