Scripture in the Morning #170
Good Morning:
This morning we start a short series of applied messages that flow from a really neat saying by a Christian lady who is famous in Catholic circles, but who is almost never mentioned in Protestant circles: Mother Teresa. Her saying:

"People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway. The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway. Give all that you can – and it may still not be enough. Give it all you can anyway.”

Ephesians 4:32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Is there someone in your life that you struggle with – a person who has hurt you and you have difficulty forgiving?

If so, name that person in your heart and mind this morning. And then, pray for them. Pray that the Lord would bless them. Pray that the Lord’s grace would richly be upon them and that the Lord would shower them with love and move them to be a blessing. Pray for them that the Lord would comfort them in the knowledge of who He is and that God would move the person you struggle with to grow in their faith.

People are often unreasonable. We are often unreasonable. People are often self-centered. We are often self-centered. Whatever that person has done to you, well compare that to what we have done to Christ. We, as the human race, mocked Christ, we beat Him with reeds and hung Him on the Cross. We, personally, use His name in vain. We place ourselves above Him in our thinking. We worship our comfort, our stuff, our reputation, our finances and many things before Him. We have done phenomenally worse things to our God than anyone has done to us. Yet…

God forgave us. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another. People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.

May your prayer time for the person you struggle with be rich. Have a great day in the Lord.
