Scripture in the Morning #188

Scripture in the Morning #188
Good Morning:

Another interesting quote to assess, this time from R.C. Sproul – this is the best quote I have ever heard about how it is that we are saved.

“When God saves us, He doesn’t hear a cry for help and respond by throwing a life-preserver to a drowning person. Instead, God pulls a corpse from the bottom of the sea, takes him up on the bank, breathes into him the breath of life and makes him alive."

Unlike what so many teach, we do not call out for help, calling for Christ to save us. We do not call out and seek Him. No, we are Spiritually dead and cannot call out to Christ.

Romans 3:9 There is none righteous, no not one; none that understands; there is no one who seeks after God, they have all turned aside

Romans 8:5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. Because the carnal mind is death, but the spiritual mind is life. Because the carnal mind is enmity towards God, for it is not subject to the law, nor indeed can it be.

Ephesians 2:1 you were dead in your trespasses

No. While Spiritually dead, we do not even know we are lost – much less call upon a savior. Rather…

2 Samuel 22:17 He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters.

“God pulls a corpse from the bottom of the sea, takes him up on the bank, breathes into him the breath of life and makes him alive." By grace, God cause us to be born again and saves us.

1 Peter 1:3-6 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Amazing grace! God saved you. You added nothing. You did nothing. Me either. He saved us because he chose to save us. And when He changed our hearts we then called to Him. Praise God!
