Scripture in the Morning #192
Paul Washer again has a jewel for us…
“The notion of “making Jesus the Lord of your life” is preposterous. Jesus Christ is the Lord of everyone’s life. Whether you serve Him or not, He is lord. You can love Him, hate Him, bless Him, or curse Him; it matters not – He is Lord no matter how you view Him. He is Lord because God the Father has given Him the name above all names so that every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord.”
The point here is that we do not make Jesus lord. He is Lord. How we view Him matters not. He is who He is by virtue of His deity. Jesus does not need our consent for Him to be Lord.
We do not define God. We do not anoint Jesus as Lord. He is Lord.
Matt 28:18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Any persons perception of who Christ is does not – in any way – change the reality that Jesus is Lord.
Our prayer for today is that the Lord, by grace, aligns our thinking with reality.
May the Lord deeply impress upon our hearts and minds that He is God, He is to be worshiped, thanked, loved, honored and revered. May the lord grow us to stand more fully in awe of His amazing holiness and perfections. May the Lord overwhelm us with a desire to honor Him in thought, word, and action this day.
