Scripture in the Morning #25
Once more, sometimes knowing what we are not is as valuable as knowing what we are. Consider…
We are not in control of our lives. God is. And we often cannot see clearly where He is taking us. So, not only are we not in control – we often are unaware of where He who controls us is taking us.
Jeremiah 29:11 I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to give you hope and a future.
Our experiences and our life stories often turn out much differently than we might have expected, but that doesn’t mean our stories happen randomly. It simply shows how little we know of the story ahead of time. We do not know the future, of course. Actually, we often cannot even properly interpret our past or present either. Therefore, we are a people who have to walk trusting the promises of God. Because we cannot often see the big picture, we need to live in the confidence of the promises God has given us. We are a dependent creature who must trust our Lord. Indeed, this is yet another aspect our our being weak vessels of clay.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God.
Psalm 28:7 the Lord is my strength and my shield; in Him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to Him.
So, add this one to the list of who we are – we are limited and relegated to trusting God. And praise God for this reality – for the Lord is trustworthy…
2 Samuel 7:2 "Now, O Lord GOD, You are God, and Your words are truth, and You have promised this good thing to Your servant.
