Scripture in the Morning #30
Who are we?
We are a people who need not have anxiety.
Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
What a passage! Here we are taught that we need not have anxiety. Yet, in our humanness, we often do. So what should we do then?
Well… by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
When my mom had cancer she stated that she did not fear death at all. She, in fact, was thrilled that soon she would be in the presence of her Lord. Yet, she stated that she feared the process that would take her there. It was not an issue of not trusting God. It was not an issue of fearing the death part. It was just human fear that says “Lord, I pray that I need not suffer.” She feared the process. And…
God used that to drive her to her knees and cause her to pray more, trust more, and thank Him all the more for His calling her home. She was blessed through it all – even the process part – even though it did involve some pain.
The point is that we need not fear anything – we are in His hands. But at times we will fear. And God uses that to draw us closer to Him, by moving us to pray.
Wherever He takes us – whatever path he places us on – praise God. It is the best path!
