Scripture in the Morning #68
The world teaches that absolute truth does not exist. The world would have you think that you and I determine our own “truth” based upon what works for us. So… my truth may differ from your truth. A relative truth. But this is not so.
What the world calls relative truth is but opinion and has no bearing on truth. I may state that the Yankees are the best baseball team and you may state that it is the Red Sox. But neither of us are talking of truths and falsehood at all. Just meaningless (though interesting) opinion. Unfortunately, the world would place everything, including belief in Jesus, into this same category. They would say all that exists are opinions (true for you but not necessarily true for me) and that there are no universal truths. But this is not the case.
Hebrews 2:3b-4 It (truth) was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard, 4 while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.
This morning the Lord tells us that the truth of God in general and the truth of our salvation in particular was declared to us by God Himself. God’s declaration of truth came to us by signs and wonders (His resurrection, miracles, etc.) and by the internal testimony of God the Holy Spirit who resides in all who believe. Now… truth is revealed. So, there is truth…. truth exists. Absolute truth from God.
God reveals universal, absolute truths. There is a God. He is personal. He sent His Son. He exists as one-in-three and three-in-one. He is holy and we are not. There is heaven, there is hell. And there is so much more in the way of universal truth. God attests to truth in His Word. And we are blessed to have access to that truth.
Life is good. Praise God.
