Scripture in the Morning #34
This morning I would like to share with you an opinion. This is from John Calvin nearly 460 years ago…
“Humility is honestly assessing ourselves in light of God’s holiness and our sinfulness.”
At first glance, this quote sounds a little like Eyore from Winnie the Pooh … “whoa is me…” But, this is true only if we dwell overly long on the “sinfulness” part. If we dwell only shortly on our own inability — just long enough to realize that we are undeserving of His Grace — then we can look at what God has done for us and marvel at how amazingly blessed we are because God is love and He has loved, saved, and blessed us in every way.
Psalm 147:6a The Lord lifts up the humble…
Psalm 149:4 For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He adorns the humble with salvation.
God’s holiness is amazing. We are so blessed to know Him. He is the Potter and we the clay — and He is molding us at this very moment. May we each marvel at how we — lowly and without hope on our own — are lifted up by God’s grace and adorned with Salvation — simply because God is love.
May we humbly revere His holy name this day and enjoy Him. Have a great day.
