Scripture in the Morning #35
This morning we venture onto a new theme. It is a theme connected to our speech.
Experts contend that the typical American adult will speak about 23,000 words a day. For us, this morning, how many of the words we speak this day will be directed as follows:
Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
We need to be purposeful in order to use our speech to be a blessing — to build others up. It does not happen naturally — we need the Lord’s Grace to protect others around us from the misuse of our tongue and to move us to bless others with how we speak to them.
This morning, may we each ask the Lord to move us to speak with kindness to others, to speak of that which is good and to refrain from slander, from vulgarity and from negativity. May the Lord guide us each this day and make us a blessing.
Have a great day.
