Scripture in the Morning #85
Hebrews 2:17 He had to be made like His brothers in every respect, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.
The offerings of the Old Testament high priest availed nothing. The sacrifice (of a literal lambs) was insufficient. Christ, the great High Priest, whose sacrifice DID provide for the forgiveness of sins gave forth an infinite sacrifice… Christ gave HIMSELF as the sacrifice.
Hebrews 10:11,12 And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,

John 1:29 The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
1 Pet 1:18,19 knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
Jesus chose to die. Jesus is both the Great High Priest and the Lamb sacrificed. Tomorrow we see what was accomplished by the death of the Lamb. For today, simply dwell upon the love of Jesus and praise Him.
