Scripture in the Morning #9

Good Morning.

Who are we?

1 Peter 2:9,10 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

So far, our answer as to who we are has several components. First, you and I were born into darkness, lived in darkness and, if not for the Grace of God in Christ, would remain in darkness. Thus, you, like me and all others – we are all on equal ground. No one is better than anyone else. No one is deserving of Grace, not you, not I, none of us. We were equally lost. Second, we were saved by Grace, our hearts changed, God the Holy Spirit was placed in our hearts and God – by Grace – caused us to be Born Again. In this, we were transformed out of darkness into light. We were saved, were forgiven and were and are heaven bound. Now, as the result of God’s grace at work in us, we are a person in whom the light of Christ resides – a person who possesses God the Holy Spirit in their hearts. There is more…

Revelation 5:10 And God made them a Kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.

Who are we? We are members of God’s Kingdom. We are followers of our King and Savior. We live in a Kingdom now that is a Spiritual Kingdom under the banner of our King – Christ.

Who else is in this Kingdom? There are those in the Kingdom of God in Christ from the past, from the present and there will be more in the future. Those who were Born in darkness long ago who were Born Again onto Spiritual life, and then physically died — they are in the Kingdom of God while currently in Heaven. The number of those in the Kingdom now in heaven almost certainly numbers in the billions. Those, like us, who were born in Spiritual darkness — were born again, saved, forgiven and, as a result, confess Christ. Because we are still living – we too are part of the Kingdom now, while on earth. Those who were born Spiritually dead and living on earth today who have not yet been born again — but who will, in the future, be born-again and confess Christ as a result will join the Kingdom later. Finally, those that have yet to be born physically — and will be born in the future, born in Spiritual darkness — who will be born again, confess Christ as a result, and do so before they die – they too will be of the same Kingdom.

So we were born in darkness, rescued out of darkness, Born Again, saved, forgiven, given the Light of Christ in the form of the God the Holy Spirit being placed into our hearts and placed in a forever Kingdom alongside billions of others past, present & future. That is who we are.

All we can say is this – thank you Lord!
