Philippians 4:1-7

Phil 4:1  Therefore, my brothers,1 whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved.

What do we Learn Here by Example?

–              We should love our Brothers & Sisters in Christ… which means we should be dedicated to their better Good and desire for them Spiritual Growth and be willing to Serve them that they would Grow in the Lord…

–              In the Lord’s Power, we are to Stand Firm in the Lord… which means we should be dedicated to the Lord now and always — to do this we need His Grace… So we Pray that the Lord Keep the things of God Central in our Lives Daily…

–              Now Paul moves from General Principles to very specific people and circumstances…

Phil 4:2,3             I entreat Euodia and I entreat Syntyche to agree in the Lord.  3 Yes, I ask you also, true companion, help these women, who have labored side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.

What do we Learn Here by Example?

–              That General Principles should be applied to Specific Circumstances and Specific People

–              That we are to hold each other Accountable to Apply General Principles in our Lives…

to do this we need His Grace…So we Pray that the Lord Give us the courage to hold each other Accountable…

Do we see the Principles of the Word as Concepts only or

do we them as Principles to Prayerfully Apply to our Lives?

Do we hold others Accountable?

Are we Humble Enough to Appreciate it when others Hold Us Accountable?

–              Paul now begins his conclusion to the letter — Like most conclusions, Paul hits the huge issues in a Review Format…

Phil 4:4  Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice

How can we not Rejoice?

–              God has revealed Himself to our Hearts through His Word…

–              He Gave us His Word and God the Holy Spirit to Reside in us to Illumine Truth to us…

–              The Son has Revealed the Father to You…

Luke 10:22         All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.”

How can we not Rejoice?

–              God, in Revealing Himself to us, has given us the Greatest Gift Ever… the Ability to Revel in God’s Great Glory both Now and Forever…

Psalm 16:11       You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures?forevermore

Rom 8:1,2            There is now?no?condemnation?for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2  the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

–              Rejoice:  Consider that…

–              God, in saving you through Christ, has already given you all the purpose, all the reason to live, all the meaning in life that you can envision and has granted you all the fulfillment you can possibly imagine —    He has done it all

–              you need not strive after the wind looking in the world for what you already have… You need not live wondering “What am I here for?”  or…  “Why does this Life Matter?”

1 Peter 2:9            But you are?a chosen race,?a royal?priesthood,?a holy nation,?a people for His own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you?out of darkness into? His marvelous light.

–              Rejoice, You never have to ask: “What does my Future Hold?”  Or  “Where am I Headed?”

Or  “What should I Do on the Journey to get There?”

Phil 4:5  Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand;

–              We will be with the Lord soon, Our journey will find its’ Destination soon;  till then…

Phil 4:6  do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Why be Anxious?

–              We have the Promises of God to Rely Upon

–              We have Access to God Himself through Prayer

Phil 4:7  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

–              Peace is Ours as a Gift from God  — We should Thank Him for the Peace He has Placed Upon Us…

–              We Should Rejoice in the Peace He Has Granted Us…

Philippians 4:4   Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.

Where do we go from here?

Psalm 145:4       One generation shall commend God’s?works?to another, and shall declare the mighty?acts of our Lord.

1 Pet 2:9 But you are?a chosen race,?a royal?priesthood,?a holy nation,?a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you?out of darkness into? His marvelous light.
